Dopo aver visto il film "Avatar" in 3D, Rudolf Schenker decide di voler registrare un concerto in 3D. Dopo aver pubblicato il loro album in studio "Sting in the Tail" nel 2010 e aver annunciato il loro tour, l'idea viene realizzata nell'aprile 2011 e gli Scorpions registrano il concerto, in diretta e senza prove, il 15 aprile 2011 nella Saarlandhalle (Saarbrücken) utilizzando undici telecamere 3D.
